Dianne Kay Forbes Compton of Zephyrhills, Florida, passed away on September 9, 2023. She was 67 years old. Born in Lafayette, Indiana, to Donald and Dolores Forbes, she was the third of seven children and the oldest daughter. After her family moved to northern Virginia, she graduated from Herndon High School in Herndon, Virginia, and later married and had three children, Faith, Benjamin and Christopher.
Besides Sterling, Virginia, Dianne lived in Waxahachie, Texas; Las Vegas, Nevada; Durban, South Africa; and the Tampa, Florida, area. A multi-talented, highly intelligent woman, she held a variety of jobs throughout her life, including administrative positions, as an aerobics instructor, starting a desktop publishing business and working at a wedding chapel in Las Vegas. During her time in South Africa she volunteered at the South African Association of Marital and Family Therapy. As her children reached adulthood, Dianne began pursuing a passion for poetry, and was active in online poetry communities until her death. Her poem "Light & Dark" was selected for a Readers' Choice award for July 2020 by the Facebook page Colours Of Life. She will always be remembered for her sense of humor, her sensitive nature and her deep caring for people, particularly the disadvantaged.
She is survived by her three children and three grandchildren; by six siblings: Donald, David, Denise, Douglas, Dolores and Deborah; and by six nephews and three nieces. A funeral Mass will be held on September 26, 2023, at 2 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 38710 5th Avenue, Zephyrhills, Florida, 33542, with visitation beginning at 1 pm.
