DeVann Beau Fitzgerald—known affectionately to those who loved him as “Devy” or “Fitz”—passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, in Tampa, Florida, at the age of 34.Born on February 18, 1992, in Columbia, Missouri, to Lisa, DeVann eventually made his home in Zephyrhills, Florida, where he served his community as a correctional officer. Outside of work, DeVann was a man of distinct passions: he loved building Legos, riding motorcycles, and staying sharp on current politics. Quick-witted, sarcastic, and endlessly funny, he always had a joke ready to lighten any room. Above all else, DeVann was defined by his generous heart. If someone was in need, he was the first to show up—no questions asked. Nothing brought DeVann more pride or fulfillment than being a father. He poured his heart into his boys and lit up whenever he spoke about Liam, beaming with pride over the person his son was becoming. He embraced Barrett as his own, and watching the deep bond grow between Barrett and Liam was one of the greatest joys of his life. His boys were his world, and there was nothing he wouldn't do for them. DeVann is survived by his son, Liam; his mother, Lisa; his siblings, Kory and Kaitlyn; his sister-in-law, Megyn; his aunts, Rory and Deonne; Liam’s mother, Melissa and her son Barrett; and his close friends, Devin, Sean, and Robert, alongside a large circle of family and friends who cherished him dearly. Taken from us far too soon, DeVann leaves behind a legacy of laughter, steadfast loyalty, and unconditional love. He will be remembered for his quick sarcasm, his massive personality, his readiness to lend a hand, and the absolute devotion he had for his family. He will be missed beyond measure and held in our hearts forever. A memorial service will be held 6 PM on Wednesday, September 23, 2026  at Hodges Funeral Home in Zephyrhills, Florida with a visitation with one on prior to the service.
