MICHAELIS, Dennis Michael "Mike", 74, of Zephyrhills, formerly of Tampa and Palm Harbor, died on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, in the arms of his wife, Sharon Saunders Michaelis. Mike and Sharon were married for 42 years. Mike was born in Tecumseh, NE. He was the son of Maj. Ivan H. and Leona (Rohrs) Michaelis. Mike is survived by his sister, Valadine Spain of CA and two nephews, David Spain (Kim) and son, James Dawson and Michael Spain (Vicki); and children, Sarah and Corey all of CA. Mike's uncle, Lloyd Michaelis of NE predeceased him. Mike graduated from Savannah High School in Savannah, GA. He attended Armstrong College in Savannah for two years, majoring in engineering, attended three years at Auburn University in Auburn, AL majoring in aeronautical administration. Attended St. Pete Air World with ratings: Private Pilot license, Instrument Rating and Multi-Engine Rating. Graduated from National Aviation with a Flight Instructor Rating. Worked for U.S. Geological Survey, WRD, for 27 years, holding Federal Pilots License, Senior Estuarine technician. Graduated Provost Marshall General School (Military Police). Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church at 37623 Magnolia Ave. in Dade City, FL. Refreshments will follow in the Parish Hall.
