Dennis Jay Fitzmaurice, 64, of Lutz passed away peacefully on October 31, 2023. Dennis was born on July 27, 1959, in Long Branch, NJ to Thomas and Joan (Rich) Fitzmaurice. Dennis attended Marietta College in Ohio and received a BA in Communications. He created strong bonds during his college years, especially with his brothers of ATO (Alpha Tau Omega). Dennis was proud to be president of his fraternity and left Ohio with a brotherhood and a love for baseball, specifically for the Cincinnati Reds. After college Dennis moved back to New Jersey and worked most of his professional life for AT&T in sales and project management. He met his wife Susan Fitzmaurice in New Jersey, and they married on July 16, 1988, in Clark, NJ. They lived a beautiful life in Linden, NJ and their only child, Samantha Fitzmaurice, was born August 20, 1995. This year they celebrated 35 wonderful years of marriage. Dennis was passionate about traveling, bowling, baseball, and of course his family, especially his dogs (Brittany, Maggie, and Loki). Dennis and his family were able to travel to many countries and loved Disney cruises. He loved traveling so much that he became a certified travel agent and was always planning the next family trip. In 2020 Dennis and Susan moved to the sunshine state of Florida to be closer to Samantha after her college years. Although it was the midst of the pandemic they quickly made a life for themselves in Florida. Dennis was able to join multiple bowling leagues, played bridge with new friends, and loved to attend Tampa Bay Rays baseball games. Dennis and Susan eventually built their townhome in Lutz, FL. Dennis is survived by his wife, Susan Fitzmaurice, daughter, Samantha Love (Fitzmaurice), son in law, Aaron Love, and first grandchild to be born in April 2024. Dennis was predeceased in death by his parents. A viewing will be held at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City on Monday, November 6, 2023, from 10:00 11:00 am. A short service at the funeral home will begin at 11:00 am and followed by the burial at Chapel Hill Gardens.
