Obituary

Dennis Devine was raised in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where he graduated from Northeast High School in 1968. He then attended Saint Leo College and University of South Florida, earning a BA and MA degrees. Dennis also attended the Vltia International Study program in Ansembourg, Luxembourg where he studied Philosophy and Music. After coming to Saint Leo, Dennis made his home in San Antonio where he became a part of the community. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Francesca Devine; brother, Jim Devine; and sister, Diane McManus. Dennis was survived by his wife, Peggy; his siblings, Judith Hood, Deborah Austin, Daniel Devine, Cynthia Allen, Carol Garcia, and Janet Villotti; many nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends. Dennis's love of Florida and music brought him to the Florida Folk Festival where he met Cousin Thelma Boltin, Gamble Rogers, Will McLean, and Don Grooms. Playing with numerous musicians and organizing and promoting many festivals in Florida. Dennis wanted a watermelon seed planted on his grave and have some of his ashes thrown down the Withlacoochee River. "Don't stand by my grave and weep, for I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I'm the diamond's glint on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn's rain. Don't stand by my grave and cry. I am not there. I did not die." "Life is not a mystery to be solved, but an adventure to be lived!" "Rest in peace, you will no longer be limited by illness and disabilities." A Celebration of Life is TBD.
