Denise Lapointe McKienzie, 76, of Dade City, Florida born July 13th, 1946, passed away Tuesday, April 18th, 2023, at the Rucki Hospice Care Center in Zephyrhills. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Georgette LaPointe. She is survived by Terry, her husband of nearly 56 years, her 3 children Dave McKienzie (Jenni), Dan McKienzie (Lori), Kathy McKienzie; 2 sisters: Joyce Roehl, Marcelle Lapointe; and 4 grandchildren: Maddie, Molly, Taylor, Ryan; and her dog Roxie.

Denise graduated as co-valedictorian from Miami Jackson High School in 1964. She and Terry met at the University of Florida in 1966 and were married in Arlington, Virginia in 1967. She earned an A.S. degree from the University of Florida and Bachelor of Arts "With Distinction" from Eckerd College.

She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother always putting her family first. While living in Versailles, Kentucky, she was very active as a leader in both the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts programs. She received the Silver Beaver distinguished service award from the Boy Scouts of America Blue Grass Council. Recipients of this award are scouters who have made a significant impact on the lives of youth and the council. Denise enjoyed traveling, nature, camping, reading, music and volunteering. She had a joy for life and an indomitable spirit. Before retiring, she spent many years as a cardiology practice administrator in Brandon, Florida. She was very active in church choirs throughout most of her life and was an active member of St. Marys Episcopal Church of Dade City.

A funeral Mass will be held 10:00am Saturday May 13th at St. Mary's Episcopal Church of Dade City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to Gulfside Regional Hospice or to the St. Marys Music department.
