Obituary

Shildt, Delbert E. 93, passed away December 18, 2011 in Dade City, FL. He was born October 5, 1918 in Tyrone, PA, son of John D. and Estella (Kline) Shildt. He watches from Heaven his loving family which includes his loving wife of 68 years, Bernice W. Shildt, and his children: Jeanne Shildt Bittman and her husband Edmund, and Daniel J. Shildt; two grandsons, one great granddaughter, all from FL, and sister, Kathleen Widmer of Tyrone, PA, and the loving members of the Shildt and Williams family. He is preceded in death by sisters: Annis Berkstresser, Betty Naimo, Pauline Bates and Irene Douglas, and brother, John D. Shildt, Jr. (Navy). Delbert served in WWII in the Seventh Air Force in the Pacific as an aerial engineer for 3 years. He was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. Delbert received the Air Medal on Feb. 18, 1944. He married Lt. WAC Bernice (Williams) Shildt on December 13, 1943 in a military ceremony in VA. After the war, Delbert began his career as a computer programmer for Union Carbide. He then became the Data Systems Supervisor for Hershey Estates. As a Data Systems Computer Analyst Supervisor, he retired from the PA State Police in 1968. He retired as MSgt from the Air Force. Interment services with military honors will be held 1:30pm Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers, make contributions to Hospice.
