David was born December 24th, 1956, and passed away May 10th, 2024 at James A Haley VA Hospital in Tampa. David is survived by his wife of 36 years Tammi Wheeler, son John and daughter Ashley Wheeler, all of Lacoochee; brother Alan (Michelle) Wheeler of Dumfries Virginia; sister Diane of Boca Raton Florida; sister and brother-in-law Terri and Virgil Jones of San Antonio, Florida and many nieces and nephews. David is predeceased by his mother and father Helen and Robert Wheeler; mother and father-in-law Katheryn and Melvin Hinson. David enjoyed fishing, woodworking, helping in the community, and working at St Leo University before he retired in 2023 due to health issues. David also served in the US Army as an Army mechanic where he served four years in Germany as a field mechanic. After he served in the military, he worked as a truck driver for a few years before taking a new career path in carpentry where he worked on building churches for Christian Builders of Mount Dora, Florida. Whenever he was not building churches he was spending time with his family and doing handyman work for the community. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 29th, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Lacoochee, Florida with a reception to follow.
