Obituary

David Robert Wendt a resident of Dade City Florida and summer resident of Kennebunk Maine, passed away on October 13th, 2016 at age 79 after a long illness. He was a loving husband, father and grandpa.

David was born in Brooklyn New York on December 10th, 1936. He grew up on the south shore of Long Island New York, Graduated from Oceanside High School and then he Graduated from the General Motors Institute in Detroit in1958 where he began his career with Chevrolet Motor Division. Dave really showed an interest for cars and boats since an early age. Dave was a huge NASCAR fan.

After living in New York, Dave and his family moved and settled in Watertown Connecticut in 1966. He and his family lived there enjoying family time fishing, boating, and snowmobiling. Family trips to Seaford NY to the home of his parents for the many big family cookouts, and boating to Zachs Bay with the Seaford Harbor Motor Boat Club, are where some of the best early family memories were made.

In 1977 they moved to Brookfield, Ct. where he lived until retirement. He and his wife Ann re-discovered their love for boating and sailing on Long Island Sound and the CT. River. After retiring he and his wife Ann moved to Cape Coral Florida to enjoy the family that lived near by, and the canals leading to the Gulf of Mexico.

After his wife Ann passed away after a long illness in 2003, Dave joined the Everglades Florida Unit of WBCCI the Wally Byam Airstream Club and discovered the new enjoyment of owning an RV, and traveling the roads instead of the waters. He became very involved in the club and enjoyed the adventures in Airstream Caravans, began a new chapter of his life.

Sue Yeutter and Dave met at an Airstream rally and began travelling together. The first summer they travelled with 1 dog and 3 cats. Since they survived that trip they figured relationship would work. Dave and Sue were married August 12, 2006. They enjoyed travelling and took a cruise to Tahiti (that was on Daves bucket list), attended Daytona 500 race week and took several Airstream caravans to Alaska, Newfoundland, Cajun Country, and the ate their way down the coast on the Southeast Adventure caravan. They were both very active in the Airstream Owners club (WBCCI). When they werent travelling, they spent the summer in West Kennebunk, Maine and wintered in Florida, first in Palm Beach Gardens then for the last few years in Travelers Rest in Dade City, FL

David is pre-deceased by his parents Gustave and Dorothy Wendt and first wife Ann McKeever Wendt.

David is lovingly remembered by his wife Susan Wendt, his daughter Debbie Robinson and her husband Mark of Kennebunk, ME, his son David Wendt and his wife Pam of New Milford CT, and his four grandchildren, Zachary Robinson of Cambridge MA, Christopher Wendt of Norwalk CT, Kristy Robinson of McKee KY, and Ryan Wendt of New Milford, CT. David is also remembered by his cousins, aunts, and uncles, brother in-law and sisters in law, and we can not forget his favorite nap partner, little Poco.
