David "Moose" Lazar, 68, of Dade City, Florida, passed away on August 23, 2026, in Dade City, surrounded by the love and memories of a life well lived.

Moose was born on November 29, 1957, in Hialeah, Florida, to the late Rosemary Hill and Lawrence Lazar. He was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Sandra Spivey, and father-in-law, Verlyn Spivey, who were an important part of his life and family.

For Moose, family was always at the center of everything. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Colette Lazar, with whom he built a lifetime of love, laughter, adventures, and memories. He is also survived by his children, Joseph Lambert and his wife, Ashlie Lambert; Colesa Maugeri and her husband, Domenick Maugeri; and Colena Lazar and her husband, Ty Whiddon.

One of Moose's greatest joys was being a grandfather. He was incredibly proud of his grandchildren, Tytan, Tyleigh, Cory, Hallie, Leighton, and Milleigh, each of whom brought something special to his life.

Moose spent his career with Spivey Utility Underground Construction, a family-owned business, where he served as Safety Director. More than simply a career, his years with Spivey Utility were another extension of the family that meant so much to him.

He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Daniel Spivey; Jimbo Spivey and his wife, Denise; Timothy Spivey and his wife, Amy; and Steve Spivey, as well as many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Over the years, they shared countless gatherings, stories, laughs, and memories that will continue to be told for generations.

Of all the things Moose accomplished in his 68 years, nothing meant more to him than raising his children and being there for his family. Some of the best years of his life were spent at the softball fields, watching his daughters play and cheering them on from the sidelines, and spending time in the woods hunting with his son. Those were the moments that mattered most to Moose-not just the games or the hunts themselves, but the time spent together and the memories they created along the way.

If he wasn't at the ballfield or out hunting, there was a good chance Moose was riding his Harley with Colette by his side. The two shared many miles and memories together throughout their 37 years of marriage.

Sundays had their own tradition. Moose loved watching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and game day was always something to look forward to. Whether it was football, motorcycles, softball, hunting, family gatherings, or simply spending time with the people he loved, Moose knew how to enjoy the things that mattered most.

Those who knew Moose will remember him not only for the things he loved, but for the life he built around the people he loved. His greatest legacy is found in his wife, his children, his grandchildren, and the many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends who were fortunate enough to share in his life.

The stories will continue to be told, the memories will continue to bring smiles, and every Buccaneers Sunday, Harley ride, hunting trip, family gathering, and trip back to the softball field will carry a little piece of Moose with it.

He was deeply loved, and he will be deeply missed.

Services for Moose will be held on Friday, August 28th, 2026 at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City, Florida. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Service will begin at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow service at Chapel Hill Gardens.
