David Brian Hawthorne, 67, of Darby, Florida, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, in Dade City, Florida. He was born on April 28, 1957, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to the late John Mann Hawthorne and Christine Bartch Hawthorne. David was predeceased by his father and mother, as well as his brother, John Mann Hawthorne Junior. In his youth, David enjoyed riding motorcycles, scuba diving, and spearfishing. He developed a love and passion for collecting and refurbishing classic vehicles, entering them into car shows and sprint tracks. David was also an avid collector of antiquities and collectibles over the years. He excelled as a competitive RC (remote control) car builder and racer, showcasing his skills at the highest level. He was known as a hardworking man, a jack of all trades, who firmly believed in finding a way to get things done. David had a quick-witted personality and enjoyed playing jokes; he was known for his sense of humor. He was a fan of classic rock music, with Pink Floyd and ZZ Topps among his favorite bands. David is survived by his partner, Betty Erhard, his son David Brian Hawthorne Jr. from Dade City, Florida, along with his wife Cindy Hawthorne and grandchildren David Brian Hawthorne the 3rd and Brianna Hawthorne. He is also survived by his daughter, Megan Lynn Nunnery from Wewahitchka, Florida, her husband Braydon Tuff Nunnery, and grandson Porter Jay Nunnery. David is also survived by his siblings: sister Christine ODonnell, brothers Richard Steven Hawthorne and Douglas Phillip Hawthorne. A visitation will be held at Hodges Family Funeral Home on Sunday, June 23rd, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a graveside service at Floral Memory Gardens in Dade City, Florida at 11:00 am. David will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
