David “Scott” Grant, 65, of Dade City, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, at Moffitt Cancer Center, surrounded by his devoted wife and loving family after a long and courageous battle with esophageal cancer. Even in his final moments, Scott’s strength, warmth, and deep love for those around him never wavered.

Scott was born on July 10, 1960, in Oceanside, New York. He was preceded in death by his parents, Neil Grant and Joy Grant.

He is survived by his beloved wife and soulmate, Jacqueline “Jackie” Grant, whom he married on August 11, 2001, in Zephyrhills, Florida. Their marriage was built on unwavering love, laughter, and devotion—a true partnership that carried them through life’s greatest joys and hardest moments.

Scott was a proud and deeply loving father to his four children: Timothy Joshua “T.J.” Staten (Mary), Nicholas “Nick” Grant (Danyelle), Anthony Staten (Deja), and Victoria Staten (Gadiel). He was a cherished and adoring grandfather to Braeden, Brice, Breelin, Hayley, Payton, Jordan, Jayce, Anastasia, Alaia, Adylee, Aleena, and a precious grandchild expected in May. His eyes lit up around his grandchildren, and his love for them knew no bounds—they were truly the joy of his life.

He is also survived by his brother, Brian Grant (Virginia), and their children, Nathan and Sidney, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

Scott graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1978 and went on to attend the police academy at Pasco-Hernando Community College. He dedicated 34 years of his life to law enforcement, serving with the Zephyrhills Police Department and later the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office. His career was defined not only by his many roles—K-9 officer, narcotics investigator, school resource officer, undercover officer, DEA task force member, homicide/robbery detective, vice narcotics officer, firearms instructor, and U.S. Postal Inspector liaison—but by the compassion, integrity, and courage he brought to each one. Scott didn’t just enforce the law—he cared for people, protected his community, and mentored those who followed in his footsteps. He retired in 2016, leaving behind a legacy of respect and admiration.

In 2009, Scott found a new way to share his heart with the world by becoming a beloved and well-known Santa Claus. He brought pure magic, comfort, and joy to countless children and families. To those who met him, he wasn’t just playing a role—he truly embodied the spirit of kindness, generosity, and love that Santa represents.

Scott had a passion for life’s simple and meaningful moments. He loved fishing, kayaking, camping, embroidery, officiating weddings, teaching others, and enjoying a good cigar. He had a gift for connecting with people, making them feel seen, valued, and cared for. Whether he was sharing stories, offering guidance, or simply sitting beside someone, Scott made the world feel warmer.

Above all, Scott was a man of immense heart. He loved fiercely, gave generously, and lived fully. His presence was a source of comfort, his laughter unforgettable, and his love a constant for those blessed to know him.

Though he will be deeply missed, the love he gave so freely will continue to live on in his family, his friends, and the countless lives he touched. His memory will forever be a guiding light—a reminder of what it means to love deeply, serve selflessly, and live with purpose.

Service Details

A visitation will be held on March 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Discover Fellowship Church, 12561 Smith Road, Dade City, Florida 33525.

A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Floral Memory Gardens.

Family and friends are invited to continue celebrating Scott’s life immediately afterward at Waller Ranch, 17307 Powerline Road, Dade City, Florida 33523.

Attire is requested to be church attire.
