Obituary

Mrs. Daphine Dye Reedy age 89, of Dade City went back home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Gulfside Regional Hospice in Zephyrhills. She was born October 18, 1934, in Cleveland, AL to Doss Corbit Dye and Rena Austin Dye. She moved with her First husband Charles Edward Swann Sr. to Florida in the late 50's. After Charles drowned in a tragic boating accident she was sitting at Eddie's Drive Inn in Dade City, with her two children when Richard Reedy and a friend drove up. Richard saw her pointed his finger at her, and said to his friend " that's the woman I'm going to marry!". After a relentless pursuit by Richard, she finally agreed to a date and they fell in love and married. She worked hard as a stay-at-home mom taking care of 4 children and helping run, A. R. Reedy Jr. Fruit Contracting. After the children grew up and the fruit industry died, she applied for a job at Walmart where she worked for 15 years. After Walmart she retired and became known as Momma and Grandma to all. She was a faithful member for over 40 years at Ft. Dade Baptist Church where she served as Clerk, treasurer, and trustee. After Ft. Dade, she joined First Baptist Church of Lacoochee. She was a longtime area resident and a member the King Lake Fishing Club. She had a very giving heart and loved to cook. Her most requested dishes were chicken and dumplings, chicken and rice, and everyone's favorite.... banana puddin. She will be greatly missed by all.
