Daniel Charles
Landberg
January 5, 1929 – November 7, 2023
Daniel Charles Landberg, aged 94, of Temple Terrace, FL, passed away on November 7, 2023. Born on January 5, 1929, in Detroit, MI, to Frank and Gertrude Landberg, he attended Adriane High School. Dan entered military service on July 11, 1946. After four months of stateside duty, he served as a typist for the 7th Cavalry Regiment under General Douglas MacArthur during the Allied Occupation of Japan. Honorably discharged in 1947, he returned to Michigan and attended Michigan State University for two years. In October 1950, Dan was recalled to active service and assigned to the 23rd Infantry Regiment of the 2nd Infantry Division. He received an honorable discharge in 1951 and joined the Michigan Military Reserves. During his military service, Dan earned several commendations, including the WWII Victory Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal Japan, and the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars. The 23rd Infantry Regiment received two Presidential Unit Citations during his second tour. After his military service, Dan graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture from Michigan State University. Dan and his father, Frank, partnered in farming and were recognized as Farm Managers of the Year in 1964 by MSU. Additionally, he received the Outstanding Young Farmer award from the Crowell-Lexington Chamber of Commerce in two separate years for his exceptional progress in agriculture and contributions to the community. As a Kellogg Fellow in the Farmer's Study Program from 1965 to 1968 with MSU, Daniel traveled throughout Europe and South America. On May 3, 1958, he married, the love of his life, Shirley Ann Short. He and Shirley celebrated 65 wonderful years together. Dan is survived by his wife Shirley and three daughters: Julie Luzadder (Mark), Karen Ciaccio (Joe), and Janet Dunnigan (James). He is also remembered by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Dan was preceded in death by his sister, Arlene. A Celebration of Life and Interment will take place at Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 304 Druid Hills, Temple Terrace, FL, on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. Receiving 10:00-11:00am Service beginning at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Life Path Hospice in Daniels memory at www.chaptershealth.org.
