Obituary

DANIEL ALAN "DANNY" DEMPSEY, 65, was called Home on October 11, 2022, after a difficult year following cancer treatment. He was born March 25th in Ohio, to Harry "Luke" and Lorena Ward Dempsey. He immediately became one of their five favorite children (two of whom hadnt been born yet). Danny is survived by his proudest accomplishments: daughters Ashley Dempsey (fianc, Josh); and Tiffany Archbell (Dwayne); his grandson and look-alike, Landon Lopez. Additionally, he is survived by siblings Perry Dempsey, Kim Jackey (Wes), and Lori Wilson (Kevin). Danny adored his nephews Ian Musselman (Meghan) and Kyle Jackey, and his nieces Kristina Malburg (Ryan) and Kelsey Wilson. Danny is also survived by his 401(k) which suffered heavy losses recently ( as all of them have) many rescued cats, and an extensive record collection, each album in its own protective sleeve. Danny was welcomed at the Pearly Gates by the Heavenly Father, his Dad, his Momma (who embraced him with her famous bear hug), his sister, Donna Lou Ritter (Martin), nephew, Nathan "Nate" Wilson, grandparents, and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and pets--Joy, Grease Spot, and Rock, to name a few. Danny shared his passion for Jesus Christ, family, friends, music, orchid growing, animals, and sports with all he met. He was humorous and could always lift your spirits if you were feeling blue. Danny grew up on Dali Drive in Brandon, FL. As a high school student, he excelled in football, baseball, wrestling, basketball, pole vaulting, ag, lunch, and dancerettes. Danny always loved Brandon. Surely, he is still shouting, "Lets go Brandon HS!" Prior to attending the University of Louisville, he was the youth choir director at First Baptist Church of Bloomingdale and a member of the church softball team. He made many lifelong friends from Dali Drive, FBC of Bloomingdale, and BHS. While attending the University of Louisville, he thoroughly enjoyed his time with Nanny, aunts, uncles, cousins, and co-eds. Dsquare had a varied career, but his favorite as an avid rescuer. He saved every cold frog (by wrapping them in toilet paper), 3-legged lizard, injured baby bird, kitten, puppy, orphaned opossum, and occasional human in need. He was also adept at orchid growing, even besting the green thumb of his talented Momma. Magoo (affectionately known as GooGoo), Dannys treasured rescued and blind dog, crossed the rainbow bridge shortly after Danny. Magoo was fighting kidney failure and gave up the fight when Danny, a dogs best friend, started driving on the streets of gold. Danny and Magoo will forever be riding on those streets. Magoo sniffing out of the passenger window, and Danny blow drying his hair out of the drivers side window while waving to Julio and Leroy. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 11441 US Highway 301, Dade City, FL, immediately followed by the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you adopt one of his many rescued cats. Arrangements are under the care of Hodges Family Funeral Home, 301 Chapel Dade City, FL.
