Obituary

Haxton, Dana Dee, 89, of Dade City, Florida passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022. She was born on April 21, 1933 in Indianapolis, Indiana to her parents Harold and Velva (Fine) Nokes. Dana grew up with two brothers; Harold Lyle Nokes, and Donald Alvin Nokes, and a sister Sandra Nokes Ross, who all preceded her in death. At an early age Dana began piano lessons in Indianapolis, although the piano was not her favorite instrument. Later she turned to the organ where she began self teaching and would become the organist for several churches and the Eastern star organization. Her love for music continued throughout her lifetime. Dana would marry Jerry Haxton in Nov 1948 and began a life together until his passing in 2007. Dana throughout her career worked as a Secretary in Tampa, and for the Eastern star office in Temple Terrace and later worked in food services as a greeter. She also loved to volunteer as a Liberian, and Grey Lady at Egypt Lake Elementary, Oak Grove Jr. High, and Leto High School. Dana is survived by daughter Terry (George) Haxton Thomas, and son Greg (Sandra) Haxton, grandchildren; Trisha Oliver, Jeri (Hike) Tevaga, Ian (Deanna) Haxton, great grandchildren; Samuel, Ayden, Arona, and Kealoha Tevaga. Services will take place at a later date, with inurnment at Washington Park East Cemetery 10612 East Washington Street Indianapolis,Indiana 46229
