Dan P. Buelk, 68, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of October 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born September 26,1958, Dan lived a life marked by service, hard work, family, and an extraordinary depth of knowledge in his profession.
Dan proudly served his country as a United States Marine. Following his military service, he built a successful career in the paint and coatings industry and was the owner of Carousel Paint Store in Portsmouth, Virginia. His expertise extended far beyond his own business. Dan became known for his specialized knowledge of NAICS paint codes and traveled around the world teaching and sharing that expertise with others.
Dan is survived by his wife, Cecelia; his son, Nicholas Buelk and his wife, Julie, and grandson, Corbin, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and his daughter, Christina Leydon and her husband, Sam, and granddaughters, Brittany and Eva, of Fairfax, Virginia.
He is also survived by his mother, Eva Buelk of San Antonio, Florida as well as his brothers and sisters and their families: John Buelk and his wife, Barbara; Therese Hulme and her husband, Marc; Laura Wells; David Buelk and his wife, Christina; and Vincent Buelk and his wife, Carola.
Dan also leaves behind a large and loving extended family, including his nephews and nieces: John Buelk III and his wife, Cinnamon, and their children, Maxwell and Amara; Sam Buelk and his wife, Julie, and their children, Juniper, Luna, and Hazel, of Charleston, South Carolina; Michael Hulme and his wife, Kyle, and their daughter, Hazel, of Tampa Florida; Joshua Wells and his wife, June, and their children, Waylon, Wilder, Fletcher Mae of Havana, Fl; Jackie Taylor and her husband, Mabry, and their children, Wells and Ella Jeanne, of Tallahassee, Florida; Zachary and Ryan Buelk of Wesley Chapel, Florida; and Vincent Buelk II, Conner, and Colin Buelk of Fort Collins, Colorado.
Dan's life touched people not only through his family, military service, and professional accomplishments, but through the many relationships and experiences gathered over his 68 years. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the St. Rita Catholic Church Building Fund, 14404 14th Street, Dade City, Florida 33523. May Dan rest in eternal peace, and may his memory remain a blessing to all who loved him.
