Obituary

With great sadness , yet with the hope found in Jesus Christ, we announce the passing of our mother, Cyndee Denease Wood, who entered into the presence of God on July 18, 2026, at the age of 60.

Cyndee was the beautiful wife and soulmate of Paul Anthony Wood. Their marriage was the greatest treasure of her life. Through every joy, every hardship, every fight or argument, every good time, and every trial, she chose her husband above everything else. Her love and devotion to Paul never faltered, and she remained faithfully by his side until her very last breath. The love she left behind was a beautiful example of commitment, loyalty, forgiveness, and enduring faithfulness. She forgave the past and remained true to the promises she made to both her husband and to God.

She was a special mother to Patricia Kaye Barker, Leigh Annette Barker, Ashley Nicole Wood, and Joshua Paul Wood. She was also a proud and loving grandmother to Kailee Thomas, Lacey Thomas, Tristan Corona, Ariana Rangel, Malena Van Pelt, and Aralyn Kibler, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life.

Cyndee had a heart full of love for her family, even though at times she struggled to express it. She treasured every moment spent with those she loved. She also adored her dogs and her bird, who were far more than pets: they were like her children and faithful companions throughout the years.

Just a few short months before her passing, Cyndee surrendered her life to Jesus Christ. As her health declined over the last several months, she endured tremendous physical suffering, but she found peace knowing her eternity was secure. Though her family grieves her absence, they rejoice knowing she has been completely healed and is forever in the presence of her Savior.

She is reunited in Heaven with her beloved mother, Sharon K. Higginbotham; her father, Quinton Crawley; her brother, James Crawley; and her sister, Sally Higginbotham.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Paul Anthony Wood; her children and grandchildren; her siblings, John Crawley, Cheri Crawley, Anthony Crawley, and Christopher Higginbotham; and her lifelong best friends, Vanessa Jones, Debbie Miestratta, Lynn Acker, and Eric Gilard, whose friendship was a treasured blessing throughout her life.

Our family would also like to express our deepest gratitude to our sister-in-law, Anique, for her loving care, compassion, and faithful help in caring for our mom in her home over the past nine years. Her unwavering support, kindness, and dedication were an incredible blessing to our family and will never be forgotten. My mom loved you like her own.I want my brother to never forget how much mama loved him and is Proud of the change hes trying to make in his life.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in God's promise that death is not the end for those who belong to Christ. We rejoice in knowing this is only a temporary goodbye until we are reunited again.

"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away."

— Revelation 21:4
