Obituary

Curtis Wayne Boyett, 88, was born on December 8 1937 in Lacoochee to Floyd L and Ruby V (Peacock) Boyett. Curtis was married to Mary Carolyn Burnsed on June 11 1960. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Terrell Wayne (Jill) Boyett and Shellie Lynn (Scott) Graham, followed through the years by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda Brown and Gloria (Alfred) Keith, and numerous cousins and nieces and nephews.

Along with his son, Terrell, Curtis operated a fill-contracting business for much of the past fifty years. Together they helped many families with building their homes and properties in this area.

Curtis and Carolyn have been longtime members of the Trilacoochee Church of Christ. Ever faithful in his service to the Lord, Curtis also served for many years as treasurer of the congregation and was one of its original deacons. He was among several generations of Boyetts that helped start this local church work in Clay Sink before it migrated to its present location and his family continues to be a dedicated part of it today.

Curtis was able to spend his last days at the family home between Trilby and Blanton and received his heavenly calling there in the early morning hours of May 26 2026.

The family will receive friends at 12:00 noon on Monday, June 1 2026, at the meeting place of the Trilacoochee Church of Christ (20300 US Highway 301, Dade City FL 33523) with services to follow at 1:00. A procession will lead afterward to the Trilby Cemetery for graveside services there. On behalf of the Boyett family, Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City will be in charge of the arrangements.
