PALMER. Craig Owen, 64, of Dade City, FL, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on May 8, 2015, at his home. He was born on March 30, 1951, in Utica, New York, and moved with his family to Zephyrhills in 1966. Craig was a 1969 honors graduate of Zephyrhills High School and a 1973 graduate of Florida State University, which he attended on a full scholarship. At the time of his death, Craig was employed as an Economic Self-Sufficiency Specialist 1 with the State of Florida, where he had over 20 years of service. Craig will be remembered as a loving son, brother, and uncle. He had a wonderful sense of humor, great appreciation of music, and a curiosity about life and people. He was an avid reader, trivia master, and sketch artist.Craig was preceded in death by his father, R. Edwin Palmer, and is survived by his mother, Ruth Cleveland Palmer of Zephyrhills; his twin brother, Dale (Ellen) Palmer of Zephyrhills; his sister Joni (Michael) Chapman of Brook, IN; and his sister Shelley (Pete) Richter of San Antonio, FL. He is also survived by two nephews, Ron (Melisa) Chapman of Columbus, IN, and Todd Palmer of Zephyrhills, FL; three nieces, Amy Palmer of Fort Collins, CO, Stacie Chapman of Alexandria, VA, and Whitney Gumbert of Dade City, FL; and two grandnephews and one grandniece. A memorial service will be held Wednesday May 13, 2015 at 7 P.M. at the 5th street chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 6 pm. Donations in Craigs memory may be made to the Salvation Army per his wishes. Interment will be in the Palmer cemetery, West Edmeston, New York, at the convenience of the family.
