JONES, Connie McCarthy 67 of Dade City died on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017 at Bayfront Health Dade City. Connie was born in Dade City, FL to Joseph & Shirlie McCarthy and remained a lifelong resident of Dade City. She was a 1968 graduate of Pasco High School where she twirled proudly as a majorette in the marching band of pirates band. Connie was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dade City, she was an extremely talented seamstress and owned several businesses in Dade City, including Fashion Stitchery, Childrens Carousel and the Garden Delight Caf. She volunteered many hours with the Pasco County Fair Association where she developed the first Miss Heart Pageant, served as the executive director of the Miss Pasco County and Miss Pasco County Fair Scholarship Pageants, she also enjoyed the times she spent volunteering with the Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce as she established the Miss Kumquat Pageant. Connie also created the Starrz of Tomorrow, Inc. where she served as the executive director of the Miss Dade City Pageant, and the Miss Orange Blossom Pageant. During her many years of being affiliated with the local pageants, Connie was excited to be a part of the Miss America Program where she supported many young ladies and offered them the opportunity to participate in the Miss Florida Scholarship Pageant. She is survived by her loving family; husband of 47 years William "Bill" W. Jones, Jr. of Dade City, Son Chris & Krista Jones of St. Joe, Daughter Courtney Jones of Dade City, Stepson Chuck (Connie) Jones of Dahlonega, GA. Mother Shirlie McCarthy of St. Joe, Sisters Carol McCarthy of Zephyrhills, FL, Kathy & Dick Roe of Wauchula, FL, Numerous Nieces and Nephews and pride of life; two grandchildren, Christopher and Cortlyn and Step grandchildren Patrick & Katie Jones. She was preceded in death by her brother Buddy in 1963 and her father Joseph in 2000. Connies family will receive friends on Friday, Sept 29th from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 11441 Hwy 301, Dade City, FL. A graveside service will take place at 10:30 am on Saturday, Sept 30th at Sacred Heart Cemetery in St. Joe. Visitation
