Clarence J. Blommel 82, of Dade City, FL went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 3, 2017 in Zephyrhills. He was born July 23, 1935 in St. Joseph, FL to John & Theresa Scharber Blommel and was a lifelong area resident. Clarence served in the National Guard for 13 years and also donated his time as a Cub Scout Master for several years. His career in the Poultry Industry spanned over 40 years. He retired in 2012 after a work place accident. He was a volunteer with the Pasco Regional Medical Center. He loved meeting and talking with people.He never met a stranger! Clarence attended the Blanton United Methodist Church with his family for many years. He was a wonderful husband and father. He enjoyed gardening, watching the birds, and loved to go fishing. Clarence is survived by his wife of 61 years: Cathy Blommel 3 children: Mary Kay O'Madigan, Karen (Sal) Destefano, Michael C. (Samira) Blommel; 5 grandchildren: Ryan Parkhurst, Brittney VanDerwerf, Ghazi Blommel, Zara Blommel, Ryan Destefano; 5 great grandchildren: Jordan Parkhurst, Brooke Parkhurst, Kayla Parkhurst, Shaunee VanDerwerf, Malaia VanDerwerf; and 4 siblings: Agnes Bannister, Dorothy Grantham, John Blommel and Ed Blommel. He was preceded in death by his parents: John & Theresa Blommel and grandson: Dustin Nathe. Funeral Services will be held 10:30am Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Floral Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CARES Crescent Center, Adult Day Services 13906 5th St, Dade City, FL 33525. Clarence loved this program and all the staff there. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Absent from the body, present with the Lord! Visitation
