Christopher K. Mathis, Sr

Christopher, 62, beloved son of Henry and Margaret Mathis; devoted father of Trina and Chris Jr; loving grandfather of Sherrice, Carliyah, Carneil, Timmeya, Zavion, Messiah, Ashaud and Keith.

Christopher graduated from Florida Institue of Technology, Melbourne FL in 1984 studying in Aeronautics. He had a dream of becoming a full time pilot. In his many pursuits and passions of life the one thing he devoted as much of his time as possible was spending time with his grandchildren. They enjoyed visiting zoos, museums, aquariums and Disney World. Not only was he an adventurer but also a great teacher who was never tired of the curious questions of children. He built a children's "tree house", refurbished an entry table for his mother that still looks beautiful today and even remade her lawn chairs. He would often build rockets, ships, model cars, and his last project was building a large scale model airplane. He was self taught in many ways including playing the guitar. He often put on a concert in his living room for his grandkids to play and sing along.

Chris was born June 23rd, 1962 in Zephyrhills. Jesus called him home December 6th 2024. He was preceded in death by a host of family and friends. Surrounded by the prayers of his loving parents and siblings; the deeply comforting thoughts of, Kara Hardin, Stanley (Antoinette) Mathis , Gregory (Carlotta) Mathis, Geneva (Mark) Penix; too many awesome cousins, aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces, plus great-nephews and great-nieces to name.

A Celebration of Life will take place on December 13th, 2024 @ 2 pm
