Christopher Glen Bowers,73, of Dade City, Florida, passed from this earth on August 9.2026.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Christine Bowers; his sister, Julie Barbaree; and his son-in-law, David Curtis.

He is survived by his beloved wife, May May, and his children: Kelly Curtis-Stout (Michael), Christopher Bowers Jr. (Sheena), Gabrielle Holmes (Brent), Murray Anne Bowers, William Sharkey Bowers (Lucy), and Mary Kathleen Hall. Fifteen grandchildren: Austin Curtis, Sean Curtis, Tyler Curtis, Olivia Collins, Jackson Stout, Hunter Curtis, Adam Stout, Billie Bowers, Ava Holmes, Leighton Bowers, Parker Bowers, Luke Bowers, Elle Holmes, Maggie Bowers, and William Hall.

Chris was born in Jacksonville, Florida. In 1972, he met the love of his life, May May Bowers, beginning a lifelong journey together. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1977 with a bachelor’s degree in architecture.

In 1986, Chris and his family moved from Atlanta, Georgia, to Tampa, Florida, where they established their roots in the South Tampa neighborhood of New Suburb Beautiful. As Vice President and Partner of the Wilson Company, Chris developed projects for several major companies, perhaps most notably the New York Yankees Spring Training facility.

In 2005, Chris and his family relocated to a sprawling 500-acre ranch in Bushnell, Florida. The ranch was home to seventy cows, seven horses, two donkeys, countless dogs, and, most importantly, eight lakes filled with thousands of largemouth bass—which Chris was determined to catch, one by one.

Chris loved spending time with his friends and family, preferably with a fishing pole in his hand or sitting on his front porch swing and cheering on the Georgia Tech “Yellow Jackets.” He was never too busy to lend a helping hand to a friend or neighbor. He taught each of his grandchildren how to drive his John Deere tractor, feed the horses, and loved taking trail rides on his Gator.

In 2025, Chris and May May relocated to Dade City, Florida, where he became a faithful parishioner of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Parish.

Chris will be remembered for his strong Catholic faith, love of family, his generous spirit, his sense of adventure, and his appreciation for the simple pleasures of life. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with those he loved and leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will remain with his family and friends forever.

Services

Visitation will be held at Hodges Family Funeral Home 11441 US Hwy 301 Dade City, Florida on Thursday August 13,2026 from 5:00PM to 6:00PM

Services will be held at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Parish on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 10AM, followed by interment at Saint Anthony’s Cemetery in San Antonio, Florida.
