Christine Anne Lonis-Pelz, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on August 24, 2025, at the age of 66. She was born on July 14, 1959, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Eugene Whittecar and Mary E. Whittecar.
Christine dedicated her life to her family and those she loved. She resided in San Antonio, Florida, where she built a career with Pasco County Government. Beyond her professional life, she was a woman of many talents and passions. A gifted singer, avid painter, jeweler, and photographer, Christine also found joy in the kitchen as a skilled baker, specializing in wedding cakes. She will be remembered not only as a devoted wife, nurturing mother, and proud grandmother, but also as a loyal friend whose warmth and creativity touched everyone she met.
She is survived by her loving spouse, Willie Pelz; her daughter, Jacqueline E. Lonis of Fort Wayne, Indiana; her granddaughter, Brianna F. Lonis of Fort Wayne, Indiana; her daughter, Shannon Martindale of Riverview, Florida; her grandson, Danny Pelz of Huntington, Indiana; her granddaughters, Katy Shuler and Kalyssa Krocker, both of Ocala, Florida; her great-grandson, Carter Parker; her great-granddaughters, Zayda Lee and Lydia Shuler, also of Ocala, Florida; her sister, Freda Harmeyer (Henry); and her brother, Mark Whittecar (Denise).
She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Whittecar; her mother, Mary E. Whittecar; her stepmother, Thelma Whittecar; and her brother, Steve Whittecar.
A celebration of Christine's life will be held at Hodges Family Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 11441 US-301, Dade City, Florida 33525, on September 20, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend and share memories, and are welcome to bring a favorite artistic piece created by Christine, photographs, or other keepsakes that reflect the gifts she shared throughout her life.
Christine's memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and she will be deeply missed. Her laughter, creativity, and unwavering love leave a legacy that will never fade, reminding all who knew her of the beauty she brought into this world.
