Charlotte Martin Brooks, 81, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, at the Advent Hospital in Wesley Chapel, Florida.
She was born on June 13, 1941, in Lacoochee, Florida, to William Leonard Martin and Margaret Ila Sikes. She was proceeded in death by both of her parents and her sister, Evelyn Janice Martin Blackmon. Charlotte graduated from Pasco High School and went to business college in Tampa, Florida, before marrying Billy Joe Brooks in 1961. She worked as a secretary for the Department of Corrections from 1970 until her retirement in 2000.
Charlotte was a true Southern lady in both her heart and her bearing. She was kind and gentle with a genuine sense of humor and the ability to laugh at just about any situation. Charlotte was devoted to her family, especially her daughter and granddaughters. Being with her grandchildren and watching them grow was the delight of her heart. This year, she was overjoyed to welcome her first greatgrandchild and hold him in her arms. Charlotte did her best to live a sincere Christian life and instill a love of Jesus in her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Brooks Saviola of Tampa, Florida; granddaughter Katherine Saviola McDermott of Lehi, Utah; granddaughter Allie Saviola of New York City, New York; great-grandson Vail Brooks McDermott of Lehi, Utah; and her brother, William L. Martin of Dade City.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, October 4, at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City, Florida. There will be a viewing from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. with the service immediately after at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Dade City Cemetery.
