Obituary

Charlie Luckie Jr. passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 19th with his loving wife Barbara and his daughter Carole by his side. He is survived by his brothers and sisters: Georgia Horney, Sarah Brown, Robert (Jean) Luckie, Travis (Sherry) Luckie, Jane (Gwen) Burkett, Bonnie (Ed) Tibbs, Calvin (Linda) Luckie and Jewell (Max) Conway, his children: Carole (Paul) Luckie Richardson, Cynthia (Patrick) Luckie Knight, Matthew (Stephanie) Luckie and Lauren Luckie, 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is predeceased in death by his son Charles W. Luckie and daughter Cathy Luckie Waddington. Charlie was born in Montgomery, AL in 1927. He served in the US Navy, was aboard the USS Midway CV-41 during its shakedown cruise and later served in the US Army Reserves. At one point he was enlisted in both the army and navy at the same time. Charlie graduated from Emory University School of Law, worked for many years at the MacFarlane Ferguson law firm in Tampa, FL and was known as one of Tampas top litigators. After leaving Tampa he worked in private practice in Dade City and Brooksville, FL. He was a member of the Florida Bar for 60 years; a past president of the Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. Charlie was also a Little League volunteer and loved watching his children compete in team sports. He loved hunting, fishing and hiking. But most of all, he loved his children, grandchildren and family. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 24 at 4pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 37412 Church Avenue, Dade City, FL
