Charles Arthur WilkesonCharles Arthur "Chuck" Wilkeson, 89, of Zephyrhills, Florida, died peacefully Sunday morning after a brief illness, surrounded by family. He was born October 11, 1928, in South Bend, Indiana, and moved to Florida in 1958. After serving many years in the banking industry throughout Central Florida, he moved to Zephyrhills, Florida, in 1977 to become vice president of First Union Bank (now WellsFargo), where he worked until his retirement in 1991. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Eideth S. "Dean" Wilkeson in 2016. He is survived by daughters Faye J. "Jodi" Wilkeson (Bob Spengler), Zephyrhills, Lani Wilkeson Rossmann (Ron), Franklin, TN, Sharlee Wilkeson Moore (Bob), Hermitage, TN, Pamela Barnes Lampkin (Dub), Wynne, AR, and Sandra Barnes Milam (Rick), Tyronza, AR. "Pa Chuck" or "Potchie", was loving grandfather to 13, and great-grandfather to many more. Wilkeson served as a Company Clerk with the 43d Infantry Division of the U.S. Army, as part of the NATO occupational troops in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Proud of his early American heritage, he was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Sons of the Revolution, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Society of the Descendants of Washingtons Army at Valley Forge and the American Legion. He was also an amateur herpetologist; he studied, fostered and cared for turtles, many dropped off by others; a one-time member of the International Juggling Association, he rode a unicycle and juggled fire batons, and was once featured in a news clip on national television. Chuck was an accomplished billiards player and a closet card shark. He was loving, funny, inquisitive and competitive and he will be greatly missed. At Chucks request, he will be cremated at Hodges Family Funeral Home and interred at Highland Cemetery in South Bend, Indiana. Family and friends will host a celebration of a life well-lived, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the charity of your choice.
