Obituary

Charles Leonard Schwend, 87 years old, lived in Dade City, FL and passed away at home where he wanted to be June 1st, 2023. Charles was born in November 1935 in Bridger, MT in a log cabin from parents Albert and Hazel Schwend and was the second oldest of 5 brothers, Chester, Les, Marvin, and Danny Schwend. Charles was married to the love of his life Judi Schwend for 56 years of love and bickering. Charles worked on the Family farm and ranch in Bridger. His involvement in Future Farmers of America was also a big part of his life. Charles became the Montana state president of the FFA in 1953-54. In the early 1960s Charles served in the Army. He completed basic training at Fort Ord in California during March through May of 1960. Following training he served in Germany where his duties included handling secret communications at the command post. In 1968 Charles and Judi moved to FL where he worked in feed and animal health sales. Together they raised pigs and cattle while starting the family's trucking business in 1976. Charles was involved with cattle for most of his life which was often a love hate relationship. He loved to work and loved the trucking business as it was a great source of pride for him. Charles is survived by his wife Judi, sons Greg and Jeff, and his grandchildren Mya, Tyler, Sofia, and Wesley. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
