On January 15, 2017 Charles Joseph Schmidt Jr. passed away at Promise Hospital in Oxford, Florida. He was a loving husband to his wife, Alice; a wonderful father to three children: Debbie, Shawn, and Jennifer; and a proud grandfather to four grandchildren: Brian, Blain, Katherine, and Nathan. He was a big brother to two siblings: Donald and David. He lived life to its fullest. He was surrounded by amazing friends. He loved fishing, golfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, and traveling, especially cruises. Charles fought for our country as a dedicated soldier for 32 years in the US Air Force. He loved helping others and contributing to the wellbeing of all. He was a great Christian and believed God has a special place for everyone. He is now embraced in God's arms and love. Visitation will be from 9-11am at Hodges Family Funeral Home 5th Street location. The funeral will take place at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church 37015 Orange Valley Lane, Dade City, Florida, 33525. It will be held January 20 at 11:30 am with reception following at the church hall. Burial will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
