IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles Sterling
Beckwith, Jr.
August 27, 1948 – December 31, 2024
Charles Beckwith, Jr, 76, was born in Washington, D.C. to the late Thelma Lee Buckner and Charles Sterling Beckwith, Sr. Charles attended middle school and high schools in DC then went on to attend Ohio State University where he majored in Political science and received his Bachelor's Degree in 1974. One of my personal favorite pastimes was to sit and listen to the tales & stories my uncle told me of during his travels of the world... many were Hilarious as if making me laugh was his sole accomplishment... "MISSION COMPLETE UNCLE CHARLES!!" After college, Charles went on to work for the United States Postal Service where he retired in 2004 after 34 long years of service. I remember as a young girl how in the wee morning hours I would hear (as did the block) his old Volkswagon Jetta putt-putting up the hill once more... going to work he was.
He was a Solid man of Good Intentions and Consistency. I truly looked up to my uncle Charles as did my own children. He would take my late son, Rashid and my nephew, Christopher on joyful trips, plane rides, out to watch helicopters and once even took them to a gun range to teach them techniques and the safety and dangers of firearms. He was truly a Great role model for them and anyone else that had the opportunity and honor to cross paths with him.
Charles, nicknamed "Beck" as he was known by family and friends, was loved by many. He was kind, gentle hearted man and a joy to be around. He would help all those that needed it-I Truly Loved him!
Charles departed this life on December 31, 2024. Left to cherish his memory are, his brother, William Beckwith and nephew, Eric Beckwith; niece, Wendy Paul and Best friend, Fred Silsby. These two had met at EST training in 1984 and after 40 plus long years, they would still chat on the telephone-sometimes for hours- and an array of Wonderful and Lifelong friends and neighbors inside the Northwest Washington, DC corridors.
P.S.
Uncle, I Tried to Give You Flowers While you were here with me, but now today, I Can Only Hope You're Up In Those Big Blue Skies...Dancing.
