It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cathy Lu Sprigg, who passed away on May 28, 2026, at the age of 72.
Born in November 1953 in Dade City, Florida, Cathy lived a life centered on family, service, hard work, and genuine connection with others. She dedicated 25 years as a school bus driver for Pasco County Schools and spent many years working as a hairstylist, building lasting relationships and touching countless lives through both careers.
Cathy was deeply committed to serving her community and supporting others. She generously volunteered with Gold Star Mothers and Families, the Garden Club, Girl Scouts, and several military and veterans’ organizations, reflecting her compassionate spirit and dedication to honoring and helping those who served.
She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, James (Jim) Sprigg; her children, Dean Sprigg, Jim Sprigg, and Diane Myers; and her cherished grandchildren, Alyssa Blevins, Hunter Sprigg, Logan Sprigg, Cassidy Sprigg, JT Sprigg, Jacob Sprigg, Gavin Allen, Colin Allen, Lilly Breaux, Tessa Long, Miranda Myers, and Josh Freeman.
She is also survived by her siblings, Jackie Victor, Loraine Lachance, and Larry Jones. Cathy was preceded in death by her father, Joseph “Jack” Jones; her mother, Diane Jones; and her beloved son, Robbie Allen.
Those who knew Cathy will remember her for her humor, honesty, compassion, and the remarkable way she connected with people. She had a gift for understanding others and meeting each person where they were, making everyone feel known, loved, and accepted. She wanted those around her to laugh, enjoy life, and simply be happy. Funny, outspoken, loving, and deeply caring, Cathy left an unforgettable mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Her legacy of love, strength, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family and friends will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
A celebration of Cathy’s life will be held on June 9, 2026, at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 11441 US Hwy 301, Dade City, FL 33525.

Public Visitation: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Funeral Service: 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
