A Beautiful Life
Cassandra was born in Vero Beach, FL, the 5th child of Willie Pierce, and Ruby Pierce Lockheart, on October 6, 1970. Cassandra was nurtured throughout her life by her devoted aunt, sisters, and brothers.
As an honor student and 1988 graduate of Vero Beach High School, In 1989, Cassandra began a lifelong commitment to education and the fulfillment of her desire to educate and inspire children to reach their full potential. After achieving an AA degree from Hillsborough Community College, Cassandra attended the University of South Florida and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1992. Cassandra earned her Master's Degree in Education with an emphasis in English and Instruction from the University of South Florida in 2008.
Cassandra embarked on a teaching career at several elementary and secondary schools including Centennial Elementary, Cox Elementary, and Weightman Middle, all in Pasco County. Cassandra answered the call to serve an older generation with their career aspirations at Pasco-Hernando State College, Dade City.
Cassandra accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a tender age. She served faithfully in her home city of Vero Beach before moving to Dade City, by way of Tampa and becoming a member of First Baptist Church Dade City. Her intimate relationship with Christ was the foundation of Cassandras life and her belief and faith remained unwavering throughout her battle with health issues. One of her final declarations was " The Architect of Heaven" protection and sustaining power.
1 Corinthians 13:8 begins by saying "Love never fails," Cassandra met the love of her life, Robert Gerad Thomas, while a student at USF. Cassandra and Robert were married on July 1, 1995, in Vero Beach, FL. Throughout their 28-year union, Cassandras and Roberts love never failed, through sickness and in health. Three beautiful and talented children were born to the union as a testament to their enduring love and devotion to each other.
Now abides faith, hope, and love, these three; but the greatest of these is love, as Cassandra has entered into her rest, her love continues through her devoted and beloved husband, Rober Gerad Thomas, sons Robert Anthony and Pierce Alexander Thomas, and one daughter, Courtney Mariah-Renee Thomas, father, Willie Pierce, mother, Ruby Pierce Lockheart, maternal aunt, Leila Mizer, sisters, Taylor Pierce, Vanessa Rogers, Kim (Shawn) Humphrey, brother, Keith Pierce, and a host of sorrowing nieces, nephews, and cousins.
