Carolyn Sue Jones, 77, passed away on June 3, 2024, at Rucki Hospice Care Center. She was born on February 3, 1947, to parents, Lilly Maxine Stweart and Everette Reeves Jones, in Jesse, WV. Carolyn lived in Ridge Manor with her daughter and son-in-law until she was moved to hospice in Zephyrhills. Carolyn loved to be called Buttercup, the nickname her son-in-law Chris gave her. Every time someone called her by the nickname, her face would light up with a bright smile. Carolyn spent 17 years married to Jimmy Simonds and they had two kids, Danny Simonds and Donna Summers, together. Although they divorced, they remained close friends. Jimmy, even, helped their daughter take care of Carlyn as she fought cancer for many years. Buttercup worked as a respiratory therapist in Texas and she was a forklift driver in Florida. She loved to make jewelry for all of her loved ones and play Zelda, but most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Danny (Christy) Simonds; and daughter, Donna (Chris, Buttercup's best friend) Summers; five grandchildren, Samatha Nair, Kaylee Simonds, Dylan Simonds, Devin Simonds, and Aiden Simonds; eight great-grandchildren, Jacob Gross, Bentley Gross, Gracelyn Paris, Sophia Paris, Greyson Simonds, Lyliah Simonds, Paislee Simonds, and Raelee Simonds; siblings Rabecca Lingerfelt and Tim Jones; and many other family and friends. Carolyn was preceded in death by Jimmy Simonds, Annis Simonds, and Shirley Sneed. Buttercup was the most loving mother and will be greatly missed.
