Carol Ann Moon, 64, of Zephyrhills, FL, passed away on September 24, 2026.

Carol was born on June 25, 1962, at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ, to parents, Patricia E. (Jones) Arra and John Joseph Moon. She was raised with her siblings, Mary Elizabeth (Moon) Sweeley, James P. Arra Jr., and Kathryn P. (Arra) Holland.

She lived in many places along the east side of the country including Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, Sparta, NJ, Yonkers, NY, Orlando, FL, and Zephyrhills, FL.

Carol was a Full Professor and the Reference and Instructional Outreach Librarian at the Daniel A. Cannon Memorial Library at Saint Leo University. Ms. Moon's academic credentials included a Masters in German from the University of Florida, a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of South Florida, a Master in Fine Arts focused in Poetry in the Expanded Field from Stetson University, and a bachelor's degree in German and Literature from Bucknell. Ms. Moon was dedicated to the students, faculty and staff of Saint Leo University and will be sorely missed.

She presented at conferences across many disciplines, and in several countries. Her reference and instruction work involved supporting students, faculty, and staff whether in the physical library or in the online library spaces. In particular, Ms. Moon liaised with community patrons who wished to have access for their research, and served on the University Senate and with United Faculty of Florida, Saint Leo multiple terms. Ms. Moon also taught German classes in the undergraduate program.

Moon's recent accomplishments include, being asked to submit a poem for an Anthology, sponsored by the Walt Whitman Birthplace, and finishing as one of the top finalists in KEEPSTPETELIT's Yellow Jacket Press Chapbook Contest. Her recent publications include a chapbook of poems titled Sometimes A Breast Is Not A Breast Is Not A Breast, as well as multiple poems in other publications, most recently: Poem "To Dream or Not to Dream - My Father Just Tugged" published in Spring 2025 in The Sandhill Review and Poem "Women of the Road" published in Spring 2024 in The Sandhill Review.

Carol is survived by her mother, Patrica E. Arra; aunt, Carol Jones; nieces and nephews, Amanda Bouyer, Joshua Sweeley, Patrick Sweeley, and Hannah Sweeley; and her great-nephew, Hudson A. Bouyer.

She is preceded in death by her stepfather, James P. Arra Sr., and beloved Bichon/Schnauzer, Denver.

A Memorial Mass with be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 1 pm, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dade City.

She was deeply committed to her family, her friends, and her community.
