Obituary

Carol "Diane" McKendree (76) of Darby arrived at her heavenly home Monday, Feb. 1st. She departed peacefully with her children by her side. Diane was born January 25, 1945, to the late Lena (Tripolino) and Willie Betha McKendree Jr., both of Tampa (formerly) and Darby.

She graduated from T.R. Robinson High School in 1962 and earned her BS from UNF in Health & Human Services in 1987. A paraplegic since 1973, she was a passionate advocate for disabled persons rights, serving on various councils, committees, and boards. She was the recipient of many awards and honors for her work, including Handicapped Professional Woman of the Year. She was known for her positive attitude, despite her disability and often reminded folks that "you dont got to; you get to."

Diane was a practicing reflexologist, and teacher of reflexology for 22 years, both in Jacksonville Beach and Darby, Florida. She was a healer and kindred spirit to many. Those that were fortunate to know her experienced her love and generosity, as giving was her most favorite thing to do.

Along with her "neighbor" sandhill cranes, a vast number of beloved friends, extended family, and her sister Sharon Garren, she will be missed most by her children, Amber Parker (Ronnie), Ansley Sherlock (Robert), Shawn Leach (Angie), and Ashley Gregoire (Mark). Grandchildren include Lena, Rhonna, and Layton Parker, April and Ashtin Jackson, Shane Leach, Dane, and Allie Morgan, and Darby Wood (Billy). Great-grandchildren include Tristan Wachob, Colton and Harper Carroll, and Kai and Enzo Mora.

We welcome family and friends to join us for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 13th from 3-5 pm at 31116 Darby Road (Darby Farms Market), Dade City, Florida 33525.
