Obituary

Carol Lynn Hite Hoak, 75, of Zephyrhills, FL passed away on October 31, 2019. She was born on August 20, 1944 to Earl and Adah (Shock) Hite in Steubenville, Ohio. She grew up in Toronto, Ohio and graduated from Toronto High School in 1962, then attended Ohio State University before moving to Florida.

She worked at and retired from General Telephone as an accounting supervisor prior to GTE becoming Verizon. During her retirement, she kept busy with business ventures alongside her husband Kenneth Hoak, creating truly exceptional stained glass art pieces and later as an expert in digitizing images for use in computerized embroidery equipment. She was also an accomplished seamstress and made many costumes for some of the crews of the Gasparilla Parade held every February in Tampa.

She was a diehard Buckeye fan, and especially enjoyed watching their famed marching band that performed at the football games. She enjoyed traveling, country music, and the arts. While she had no children of her own, she became stepmom to two teenage boys upon her 1982 marriage to Kenneth W. Hoak, and was blessed to become a grandma to two beautiful young ladies, and later great-grandma to their children, all of whom she had an abundant and unending love of. All of us will miss her very much, but are glad she is with God and all who went before her.

She is survived by her sister Janet Hite, her stepsons Douglas Hoak and his wife Kathy, and Matthew Hoak and his wife Tammy, granddaughters Lindsay Lumpford and her husband Ryan, Courtney Heath and her husband Drew, great-grandchildren Breanna, Courtney, Maizey, William, Nolan, Grayson, and Dawson.

She was preceded in death by her brother Richard Hite, parents Earl and Adah Hite, and her husband of 33 years, Kenneth Hoak.

" I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."
