Carl, lovingly known as Corky to some, passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on August 14, 2026 surrounded by his loving family, just two weeks before his 95th birthday.
Carl was born in St. Joe, Florida on August 28, 1931. Throughout his 94 years, he lived a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and service to others.
He was a contractor, citrus grower, devoted catholic and a longtime member of the Army National Guard where he proudly served for 20 years. He was also an avid fan of New York Yankees baseball and Florida Gators football.
Above all Carl was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He could often be found coaching his sons’ youth league baseball games or sitting proudly on the sidelines supporting his grandchildren in their own activities. His love for his family was evident in the countless memories he created with them throughout his life. His catholic faith was a constant source of strength and guided him throughout his many years.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Louise Gude. His sons: Tim Gude (Cindy), Dan Gude (Cyndee), Mike Gude (Mary Jo), David Gude (Cindi). And his 12 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother: Frank Gude (Andrea).
Carl was preceded in death by his parents Clem and Mary Gude and his siblings Eda Barthle (Louis), Cecelia Sharber (John), Leonard Gude, Mildred Scharber (Bill), Florian Gude (Sylvia), Agnes McCarthy (John), Sophie Storch (Edward), Rosemary Gude.
