Carl Willard Cooley Jr. peacefully passed away, surrounded by loved ones on July 1, 2015. He was born March 23, 1927 in Bayfield Wisconsin to Carl and Florence (Sobota) Cooley. Carl was a proud patriot serving with the US Navy in WWII. He retired as a Post Master after 33 years of postal service in Jonesville, Michigan. Carl and his wife, Phyllis, traveled to all 50 states along with Nova Scotia, Mexico, Canada and New Zealand. His favorite place was Alaska where he was fortunate to spend 5 summers. Carl was a member of the Jonesville American Legion, an avid golfer, and talented wood craver. He is survived by Phyllis (Sager) Cooley, loving wife of 66 years. Devoted father of Judy (Stan) Swope, Homer, Mi., Chris (Jon) Cotton, Remus, Mi., and Kathy (Scott) Blue, Circleville, Ohio; also survived by his grandchildren, Nicole, Libby (Erik), Troy (Kristen), Kurt (Christine), Matt (Shelly), Abe (Nicole), Will, Elly, Jordan, Haylie (Nick), Tyler, and 9 great grandchildren; His brothers & sisters, Virginia, Kenneth (Ann), Donna, Jerry (Barbara) & Ann Cooley, along with Phyllis family and a host of many many friends. A local memorial service will be Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Travelers Rest RV and Golf Park at 2:00 pm with a second Memorial service for Carl Cooley Jr. being held on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Jonesville United Methodist Church with Pastor Jennifer Ward officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Sunset View Cemetery in Jonesville. The family will receive friends for visitation Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Arrangements in Jonesville are being handled by Eagle Funeral Home.
