Capt. George William Roop, 71 of Englewood, FL passed away on Monday, Dec 21, 2015 under the care of HPH Hernando-Pasco Hospice. The son of Milford T. and Helen M. (Isaacson) Roop, George was born on May 15, 1944 in Detroit, MI. He was the former owner/operator of Marine Towing & Repair/Tow Boat US in St. Petersburg, FL. He was a proud Army and Coast Guard Veteran having served in the Vietnam conflict. He loved playing mini golf, and was an active member of the Gold Wings Road Riders Association - Gulf Coast Wings Chapter FL 2-F. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Capt Roop is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marona J. Ronnie Roop, daughters Teresa L. Roop of Dade City and Cheryl L. Blais of McMinnville, TN. There will be no services per Capt. Roops wishes. Interment will take place at Florida National cemetery in Bushnell, FL at a later date.
