Obituary

Bruce R Lawton passed away on May 25, 2017 at the Good Shepherd Hospice in Lakeland Florida after suffering with Dementia and Alzheimer's. He was born in Warren, Pa on September 28, 1944 the son of Lawrence and Ruth (Sanden) Lawton. He leaves his wife Linda C (Ristau) Lawton of 53 years. Daughter Tammy(Steve) Ritacco/Armitage, Westerly, R.I. Sons, Scott (Cindy) Lawton, N. Stonington, Ct. Timothy (Toni) Lawton, Dade City, Fl. Grandchildren Heather (Zach) Harvie, Chad Ritacco, Lucas Ritacco, Hunter Armitage, London Armitage, Tyler, Breanna Lawton, Torie and Trevor Lawton. Great Grandchildren, Avery, Mason and Rowan Harvie. Sister, Nancy (Chester) Dunham. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers Larry and Dennis Lawton. Bruce started as a welder/fitter at Dorcon Inc. that made components for St. Louis Arch. He then worked at Erie Marine division of Litton, Ind. building the Largest Ore Carriers for Great Lakes. After they closed he and family moved to Westerly, R. I. where he worked at Electric Boat division of General Dynamics building submarines. He ended up as Dept manager of Building 17. We left R. I. and ended in Florida 1993. Bruce was always busy and could not settle down. He and his wife drove for D&K Transport for 2 years hauling from FL to CA for two years. His life was always busy with Classic Cars of which he loved to work on. He loved his family dearly and always worked hard for them. A Celebration of his life will be held in R. I. at convenience of his family. Family request any donations be made to a Good Shepherd Hospice, or Hospice of your choice or to Autism foundation in his name.
