Obituary

Bradley Anthony Moorby, 72 Brad died March 21, 2012, with his family by his side at Hospice in Zephyrhills, Florida. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 11am at Veterans National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida with a celebration of his life to follow at AmVets 4645 Airport Rd. Zephyrills, Florida.He was born May 30, 1939 in Vergennes, Vt. to Willard and Dorothy Moorby. Upon graduation from Cathedral High School class of 57 in Burlington, Vermont at the age of 18 he followed in the steps of his Father and brothers and enlisted in the United States Navy. He served his country proudly for 20 years and retired in 1978 as a Chief Petty Officer. While in the Navy he was on submarines and served as a Linguist in Russian. Upon retirement from the Navy he graduated from Champlain College with an Associates Degree. As a civilian he worked for an agency that supported the United States Navy with contracts and proposals in the Washington DC area. In 1989, he moved to Zephyrhills Florida where he semi retired doing various sales work. He retired in the late 1990s and has remained active in his local chapters of AmVets, NCVA, VFW, Elks, Eagles, Moose, FRA, and American Legion. He always looked out for his fellow Veterans who needed support and encouragement. He held the First Vice position in the AmVets Post 550. He is survived by Patricia Furister, his lifemate. He had two living daughters, Emily Jessup of Deltona, Florida and Carrie Roberts-Garvin of Webster Florida. He had 4 Grandchildren, Aimee Jessup, Mark Jessup, Holly Roberts and Jerry Roberts. He was awaiting the arrival of his next grandson later this spring. His sister in law, Audrey Moorby still lives in Burlington, Vermont. He has many living cousins and Brothers in Arms who will greatly miss him. He was pre-deceased by his son, James Kenneth Moorby who died in infancy, his parents and his brothers Cecil Moorby and Lloyd Moorby and his Aunt Ada Clark. His Family asks that instead of flowers donations be made in his name to Gulfside Regional Hospice at 5760 Dean Dairy Road, Zephyrhills, Florida 33541.
