Bob
Macdonald
January 10, 1948 – November 23, 2020
Bob MacDonald, a retired school teacher and resident of San Antonio, FL , died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, after a long battle with cancer on Monday, November 23, 2020 at the age of 72.
Bob is survived by his wife of 21 years, Cyndi (59), an RN at Moffitt Cancer Center; his daughter, Dawn Marcy MacDonald Falite (49) and son-in-law, Michael Falite; and his grandchildren, Grant Falite (20) and Ava Falite (16).
Bob was born in Amityville, NY on January 10, 1948 to Robert Raymond MacDonald, Sr and Lucille Elizabeth Roberts MacDonald. He attended Honeoye High School, and went on to graduate from SUNY at Geneseo in 1969 with a degree in Education. He later got a Masters in Education from Rollins College in Orlando, FL. He taught 5th and 6th grades in New York, Florida, Micronesia, and Georgia. He was beloved by his students and truly enjoyed his work. Over his 40 years in the field, he created a game called "Econology" to teach about economics and self-responsibility. He also took students on campouts, hosted Thanksgiving feasts for the entire grade level, and produced plays like "Charlotte's Web."
Bob was a born entertainer. He loved karaoke, 50s and 60s doo-wop music, dancing, travel, camping, playing board games like Scrabble and Electric Monopoly, and various card games. Their group, Vocal Gold, performed regularly bringing joy to local venues and organizations. Together, they founded an RV club and several game groups, including Crazy Marbles, Poker, and cards. Bob and Cyndi frequently cruised with friends and have traveled all over the world to places like Germany, Ireland, Scotland, South America, Alaska, the Panama Canal, Iceland, Italy, and of course the Caribbean. They are active members at San Antonio Community Church.
Bob was known for being a terrific planner - whether preparing a trip for a large group of friends, organizing a family reunion in upstate New York, or taking care of all the details for his own funeral. Bob and Cyndi loved their life together and followed his motto: "let no grass grow between your toes."
