Obituary

Billy Ray Turner, 68, of Dade City, Florida passed away at home on September 8th, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones. Born November 18th, 1954 in Moulton, Alabama to Opal Lee and Jake Lee Turner. His family moved to Dade City when he was 12 years old and he spent the rest of his childhood there. He worked in the poultry industry for around 20 years before he became a concrete truck driver with Spendless Building Supplies in Tampa. He worked there for 20-plus years, moving on to become a sales clerk before his declining health prevented his return. He retired in January 2023. Billy had a lifelong love of music, and when he was short on words you could never find him without a song he was singing. He was a fan of many sci-fi and western shows, and he could often be found watching marathons like Stargate, M.A.S.H., and Gunsmoke. He never met a stranger and liked to make friends with any and everyone. Billy is survived by his caregiver Bonnie Gaskin Turner, daughter Maryann Turner, step-daughter Felicia Altman (Brian), step-granddaughter Ruchama Ariella, sisters Anne Grigsby, Marie Turner, Penny Dykes (Terry), Mollie Kirsopp (Frank), and Tommie Pierce (Basil), and sister in law Linda Gaskin Peterson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Bonni Axler, daughter Michelle Faith Turner, brother Wesley Turner, and parents Opal Lee and Jake Lee Turner.
