San Antonio, Florida Billy James Harris, 83, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at his home while under hospice care.

He leaves his wife of 62 years, Marie (Carr) Harris; his two sons James and Gary and daughter Lisa, as well as daughter-in-laws Joan and Deb, and son-in-law Kelly.

Born and raised in Garrard County, Kentucky, the son of George Lee Overton Harris and Mary Bea Harris.

Billy served in the Army from 1954 to 1956, stationed in Japan. After working a few brief accounting positions, he joined Kentucky Central Life Insurance Company in Lexington, Kentucky where he retired after 30+ years as Vice President and Controller. While living in Lexington, Billy and Marie were active members of Broadway Christian Church and Northern Heights Christian Church.

In 1998, Billy and Marie moved to the Tampa Bay Golf and Country Club in San Antonio, Florida. An avid golfer, Billy was a longtime member of the clubs mens league, where he won numerous first and second place golf championships.

A visitation will be held at Hodges Family Funeral Home on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 3:00 p.m.
