Billy Burkett 86, of Dade City, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016 with his wife, Shirley, of 59 years by his side. He was born June 16, 1930 in Chandler, Arizona but moved to Florida at 18 months old and has resided here in Dade City since then. Billy was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a Mason, he retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Dade City. He is survived by his wife: Shirley A. Burkett; daughter: Cindy Burkett; son: Tim (Gail) Burkett; grandson: Wade (Nicole) Burkett; great grandson: Matthew Burkett; special daughters: Hilda Fialko & Lisa Crall; and granddaughter: Courtney. Billy dedicated a great deal of his life to the youth of this county coaching and as president of the Little League Program. He served as president of the Pasco County Old Timers Picnic Association, President of the Mt. Zion Cemetery Association, Pasco County Parks & Rec Member, Chairman of Booths for the Pasco County Fair Association, Director of King Lake Fish Club and member of the Trilby Masonic Lodge # 141 for many years. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Monday, December 26, 2016 at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home (11441 Hwy 301, Dade City, FL). The family will receive friends for viewing one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.The Billy Burkett family would like to thank everyone for their flowers, food, cards and care during his death on December 22, 2016.
