Obituary

Beverly Jane Knight; Kaat; Holland; Sandison, fashionista, pianist, bibliophile, accomplished traveler, and teacher by trade, died peacefully in her bed on December 28th, 2015, at 6:15 pm, at the age of 81 years young. was born to Ernest M. Knight and Gretchen Gintz Knight on November 11, 1934, in Akron, Ohio. She was an only child. Beverly was a daddys girl. She thought the sun rose and set on her dad. In her pre-teens, she felt her dad should stop wearing both a belt and suspenders. So, suspenders it was! Her mom was German and a strict disciplinarian with a soft heart. Piano lessons for Beverly were a must. Arent we glad! She had a life-long love affair with learning. As a teacher, she impacted the lives of hundreds of children. She took pride in helping people realize that they are likely doing a better job than they thought and arming them with a dose of reality. She encouraged her students to create a path for themselves, which looked different from everyone elses, and to create a pattern of decision making that has its own unique personality. When she was not working or taking care of her home, she volunteered her time and skills to her church. Family, work, and faith were the foundations of her life.Klaas Kaat and Beverly had three children. They lived in Tampa, Florida as members of the Community of Christ Church. She had a unique gift to recognize and appreciate the talents in others and to assist in helping them develop those talents. Her creative mind, teachers heart, and quick wit, allowed her to make everything from church activities to a simple story told to the grandchildren, sparkle. She loved perfectly manicured hair and nails, her poodles and Yorkie, and had the ability with these family pets to love them toward heaven at an unrivaled pace. She despised phonies, public tantrums, and white after Labor Day.She was fond of saying, If you dont stop crying, Ill give you something to cry about. I dont care who started it, Im ending it. Because I said so. Im giving you until the count of 3. 12 Very few things in life are fair. Dont make me come over there.Beverly will be remembered for her ubiquitous tuna fish casseroles.often with peas, sometimes without; her love of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy and well, pretty much all game shows; Christmas Cantatas; Waffle House; Days of Our Lives and in a thousand other different ways...in the morning, at night, when you pick up the phone to call her, a smell, a date, a song. She leaves all her children and grandchildren with the knowledge that they were truly loved and they knew that she loved the Lord.Doing what you believe is best for your children and your family makes you a good mother, no matter if it fits anyone elses standard. She showed the love, care, nurture, and encouragement a mother gives, never ceases.Beverlys legacy lives on with her children: Anita Joy, Cynthia Darlene, Duane Allen. And grandchildren: Staci Marie, Mellissa Anne, Maya Olivia, Sonja Elizabeth, Benjamin Ernest. And great grandchildren: Crosby Marie, Nola Cat, and Victor Marino. She was a monthly supporter of the Community of Christ Churchs Crumb Donor program and, in lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a contribution, in her name, at https://www.facebook.com/Chattanooga-Community-of-Christ-Crumb-Donors-208706652518365/info/tab=page_info through Paypal.Beverly made a difference in the lives of many. Please celebrate her life by remembering her in the evening sunsets or with the earliest spring daffodils or amongst the flitting and fluttering butterflies. We are all glad she was here. Now she is truly free.
