Prater, Betty Jean, 83 of Dade City, went home to be with her Heavenly Father Tuesday, December 2, 2014. She was born in Dade City to Mabry & Bessie Mae Bryant and remained a lifelong active member of the Dade City Community. She attended both the Enterprise Missionary Baptist Church and Eastside Baptist Church. She was a devoted Christian and active choir member where she played piano and taught Sunday School. She is survived by one daughter Darlene (Mac) McKendree; three sons David Prater, Dan Prater, and Dwayne (Jackie) Prater; nine grandchildren Brent (Sharon) McKendree, Cassie Prater, David Prater, Jr., Aubrey Prater, Corrie Prater Birrou, Jason Prater, Joel Prater, Lindsey Prater, and Jarrod Prater; eight great grandchildren Blain, Laken, Jonah, Alexis, Kaiden, Faris, Emily, and Gunnar; two sisters: Ella Mae (Bobby) Hill, Kay (Ken) Boone and many close family members including: Alora Bryant and Katherine Prater. She was preceded in death by her husband: John Wesley J.W. Prater and grandson: Cody Prater. Funeral services will be held 3pm Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Chapel Hill Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends for viewing one hour prior to service time. Flowers will be gratefully accepted or those that wish may make donations in her memory to HPH Hospice.
