Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Hurlburt After fighting a long and courageous battle with cancer, Betty Hurlburt went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 3, 2020. Betty was born on July 31, 1941 in Bangor, ME to Eugene and Doris Demmons. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Roger Hurlburt. They are known to cut a rug with the jitterbug. They celebrated their 50th anniversary at Myrtle Beach with all three of their children and their families. She leaves behind her children: Darren and wife Kristie, Mark and wife Libby, and Robin and husband Phillip; her grandchildren: Zachary, Isabelle, Sawyer, Gage, Aubrey, Brittany, Taylor, Alexander, and Nicholas; and great- grandchildren: Jakobe, Lauren, Derrick and Jackson. She is predeceased by her brothers Walter, Donnie, and Dennis; by her sisters Marie and Marguerite; by brothers in law Eddie and Junior; and by sister in law Norma. She is survived by sisters Mary and fianc Mike, and Barbie; by brother Louis and wife Lucille; by sisters in law Linda, Roberta, Jan, Nadine and Carol; and by brothers in law David, Kenny, Dennis, Les, Gary, and Chris; and several nieces and nephews. Betty graduated from Bangor High School and was employed by Merchants Bank (Bookkeeper), YMCA (Exec Asst), and Dr. Schiavone (Medical Secretary/Bookkeeper). She was also self-employed as owner of Humpty Dumpty Nursery School. She served on Hermon School Board, Hermon Snowmobile Club, Garden Club, was past president of the Terrace Club in VA and was a member of the Elks and Moose lodges. Betty enjoyed entertaining, golfing, and RVing, especially traveling to visit the kids and grandkids. She fought the "good fight" and encouraged others to do the same. There will be a Celebration of Life at Southport Springs Golf and Country Club, Zephyrhills, FL, and a Graveside Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor, ME, at a later date due to Covid 19. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society.
