Betty Gene (Barker) Beck, 93, passed away on February 1, 2022, in Zephyrhills, FL.
Born in Plant City, FL, in 1928, to Inez (Brown) and Earl Barker. Betty Gene married Preston Beck in 1946, spending much of their married life in Portage, MI. Betty Gene worked for Michigan Bell, later becoming AT&T, for 25 years, retiring in 1985. Betty Gene and Preston often spent winters in Florida before relocating back to Plant City in 1987. A creative person, Betty Gene spent much of her free time painting, quilting, crocheting, and gardening. She especially enjoyed watching cooking shows and experimenting with new recipes.
Betty Gene was preceded in death by her husband, Preston; daughters Janice Staudacher and Barbara Jean Beck; and sisters Melba Cox, Jewel Fudge and Earlene Dapolito.
Betty Gene is survived by her son, James Beck (Linda) of Dade City, FL; daughter, Theresa French (Danne) of Mattawan, MI; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Betty Gene will be laid to rest in a private graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery in Plant City, FL, next to her husband, Preston.
